Teacher Led

We believe there are many effective methods to teaching (and we have tried many of them!).  At RCS, our approach is to find the right balance between traditional classroom style teaching and self-guided study.  Both are important and what proportion is teacher-led often depends on the topic and the grade level.  Our goal is for each student to build a relationship of trust with their teacher and vice versa to create the best learning environment.

Biblical Lens

Our goal is to provide a learning environment that honors and glorifies God while at the same time provides a great education.  We are frequently evaluating our classes to ensure both goals are met.  Examples of our current curriculum include:

    • Apologia Science
    • BJU History
    • BJU Bible
    • BJU English
    • Math with Confidence (K-3rd)
    • Reveal Math (4th-5th)
    • Khan Academy (6th-10th)

Limited Screen Time

Computers are great.  We leverage media, software programs and online learning when it makes sense.  But our goal is to provide primarily in-person interactive learning where time in front of a pc is limited.

We also have a very strict “No Cell Phone” policy.  Students are not allowed to have cell phones or tablets of any kind.  If parents need to get in touch with their students, they can message their teacher.  We feel this keeps our students focused on their studies and building in-person relationships with their peers.

Ideal Class Sizes

We believe that it is important for students to spend time with their teachers and to get individualized attention.  At the same time, we want kids to interact with other kids and be able to have team activities, group projects, varying opinions, etc.  To keep this balance, our goal is to limit a teacher to no more than 15 kids.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Physical education will take place daily. We believe active bodies make for active minds! Students will be engaged in calisthenics, nutrition, activities and games, and learning how to keep our bodies and minds healthy, strong, and growing.

ART EDUCATION

Focused art lessons will provide art history, technique, vocabulary, and appreciation that come together for empirical and imaginative art experiences.

MUSIC EXPLORATION

Focused music lesson will provide a comprehensive look at music genres, historical composers and musicians, musical instruments, and learning the basics of music.

Offering Optional Fridays

On Fridays, we provide families with younger kids the opportunity to send their child/children to school or the opportunity to stay home for enrichment Fridays with their families.  For older kids, we may assign some homework that can be done at home (this may depend on if they are caught up or not).  Field trips will also be primarily planned for Fridays, allowing families to attend field trips together.

Our Mission

To offer families quality education that honors God and prepares kids to lead a Christ-centered life.
